Priority 1 To promote safety during the night time economy in the City Centre
YOU SAID: -You want to enjoy the Leicester City Centre nightlife and feel safe whilst doing so. You want to ensure that licensed premises our operating in accordance with their license. You want to know what we our doing to tackle violence against women and girls.
*MARCH UPDATE* During the duration of this priority we have focused our efforts on ensuring city centre locations are promoting the licensing objectives, deploying our officers into the night time economy, promoting safer nights out and the Ask Angela campaign and tackling violence against women and girls.
We have also worked with partners including trading standards and the fire service to sanction premises that contribute towards anti-social behaviour and criminality in the night time economy.
To highlight some of the work and results we have achieved; -1 premise license revoked with another 2 subject for revocation hearings -5 final written warnings issues to license premise -Deploying the 'mobile police station' in busy night time economy locations to promote safety
Priority 2 To tackle cycle crime and cycle related ASB in the City Centre
YOU SAID: -You want to feel safe coming to the City Centre and leaving you bike locked up. You don’t want to be bothered by E-bikes or E-scooters driving through the City Centre.
*MARCH UPDATE* Over the last 3 months we have continued to tackle cycle crime and relates anti-social behaviour. We have had numerous updates from the public and partners that we are seeing a decrease in the use of illegal vehicles. We have now seized; 724 - combined total
During that period we have also made 52 arrets for offences including drug possession, assaults and theft.
To tackle cycle we have been holding regular bike marking events to prevent and deter theft and help people be repatriated with their property should they fall victim. Rember, we also have project Re-lock so if you are the victim of cycle theft you can attend our front office and to help you get back in the saddle we can provide free of charge a gold standard D-lock and mark you bike.
Operation Pedalfast deployments will continue to tackle illegal use of e-bikes and e-scooters and the associated anti-social behaviours these vehicle's cause.
Priority 3 To tackle anti-social behaviour in the area of Granby Street, Belvior Street and Town Hall Square
YOU SAID: -You want to enjoy the Town Hall Square, Granby Street, Belvior and surrounding area but ASB caused by people and vehicles prevents this,
*MARCH UPDATE* We have raised and discussed the anti-social behaviour in this area with our statutory at a joint action group meeting. Following this a patch walk has been completed with community safety to identify what target hardening actions can be implemented.
Our PCSO's have continued to hold engagement events in this area to support the local community, discuss issues and offer support through prevention advice and the use of our neighbourhood link tool.
The location of Town Hall Square is a priority patrol location and we have significantly increased resulting in 18 stop searches being conducted in this area over the last month.
We are also aware of vehicle related anti-social behaviour in the are so to tackle this we deployed on Op Streetwise. During the operation we dealt with over 30 vehicles for traffic offences or driving in an anti-social manner; -12 vehicle tickets issued -4 vehicles seized -2 S59 ASB warnings issued
We understand the impact of anti-social behaviour in this area and we will continue this priority.
